K-9
Studio Dog Training Centre actually began in the summer of 1981, when seeing a
need for such a service, classes were offered outside at Berkshire Boarding
Kennel, on Mountain Road, in the summer.
In
1983, K-9 Studio operated from a classroom in the old Franklin Street School.
When the school was slated for demolition, we moved to a Simpson Street
location, then due to flooding, to a new Simpson Street location that housed us
for 10 years. Due to a fire, it was time to find a permanent location.
296
East Brock Street is now our permanent home, with the use of a beautiful
field at Birchcroft Boarding & Grooming Kennel on Government Road for summer
agility. All other agility is held indoors at our location.
We
have two entrances into our training areas, Door 1 & Door 2. The
curtain is pulled back for many of the advanced classes allowing more room to
train. A bank of mirrors on one wall in Classroom 1 allows you to watch you and
your dog. This is particularly important in obedience training for competition
and show handling. Seeing how you present your dog can mean the difference
between winning and losing, placing in your class, or being out of the
ribbons.
A
work in progress, our facility is in a constant state of change - whether
upgrading the building or building training and agility equipment in our workshop.
We
are small and quaint, and have your best interest at heart. Our
instructors are often about travelling to seminars and workshops to learn
more to help you with your dog, and for themselves, to learn more tricks
of the trade in competing successfully with their dog(s) in obedience,
rally, agility, tracking, field, conformation, just to name a few.
