Obedience Classes

K-9 Studio offers an opportunity for interested dog owners to learn how to train their pets into lifelong compatible companions in a quiet one class at a time atmosphere. Classes are offered for all levels of training, and all ages of dogs, by experienced trainers with a genuine interest in helping you achieve the most from your dog through motivational methods.

Our location on Brock Street allows us to hold 2 classes at a time, either entering Door 1 or Door 2 from our parking lot on Tarbutt Street. These classes are separated by a sound muffling curtain, allowing for an easy listening and learning environment.

Our classes are small, and allow for individual attention from our knowledgeable, qualified instructors.

Private lessons are available. If interested, please inquire.

Classes Available

Puppy Pre-School is a 6 week class for the very young (9 to 16 weeks, proof of vaccinations a must) this class introduces your puppy to others, where they learn to socialize with other people and fellow puppies. Your puppy will be allowed to interact with other puppies under supervised conditions, thus learning to be a happy, well adjusted puppy.

Puppy Kindergarten class is for puppies ranging from ages 3 to 6 months, filled with info on how to raise and train your puppy through constructive play, discipline, socialization and the beginning of basic obedience.

Beginners class is for dogs 6 months and over, who have not had previous training. Basic commands taught - heel, sit, down, stay, come, stand.

The Whiz class is for dogs successfully completing the Puppy K program. This class gives a sturdy foundation for dogs in their basic exercises and prepares them for Advanced Novice.

Beginner Novice class is for dogs successfully completing Beginners. This class gives a sturdy foundation for dogs in their basic exercises and prepares them for Advanced Novice.

Advanced Novice/Trial Ready Novice classes are steps towards proofing for reliability. Trial Ready offers precision related exercises for dog and handler on their way to a competitive obedience trialing career. Dogs begin jumping and other advanced exercises.

Open/Utility refines jumping skills and dogs learn to retrieve. A dog must be stable at all previous levels to begin "Companion Dog Excellent" training, and have a steady open background to begin utility training.

Show Handling is offered evenings and on Saturday morning. The morning class allows you to drop in but payment is made for a full set of classes, but you can attend when convenient. Because weekends are busy with dog events, you must call 767-5242 the night before to ensure there is a class the following morning. This class gives you the competitive upper edge, and learn what makes a winning team.

Teach your dog to think! Clicker classes offer a new concept in dog training, and help nurture your relationship with your dog in a very unique way.
